The Synops Collective was created on the 14th of October 2011. It is born from the wish of two artists, Maëlle Cornut and Stéphanie Giorgis, to realize collaboration around their work and the work of others practitioners. Based in Vevey, Switzerland, the Collective practice situates itself in the context of its production, highlighting specifics aspects of the places they are working in.

For the residency Critical Tourism at the Nida Art Colony of this summer 2013, the Collective is investigating different aspects of this place through reading, discussing and visiting. This research materializes itself in the production of various materials as pictures, drawings and videos visible on this site. Uploaded from Switzerland and Lithuania for all the month of August, this blog is a platform where the Collective’s members can share their impressions and their experiences about the place where they are and their status as inhabitant and tourist through their artistic practice.
